Sunday Part 2 - more October fun!

okay! Here is post 2 for Sunday - that might be a bit confusing considering post 1 is AFTER this one...hmmm...creativity doesn't have to be logical ok? BACK OFF!

We had a very slowwwww Sunday morning including a nice sleep in and lounging over coffee as we planned the next two months. We have a VERY busy October and November ahead of us but the good news is there are many exciting times on the horizon...

We even had to schedule a day to decorate for Christmas. Yes, we are fanatics when it comes to Christmas. The "blessed" day will be November 11, Remembrance Day. For some that may seem rather early but when you put up 5 (or is it 6 now) Christmas Tress you want to get the most of your time with them!!!

Ok, enough about Christmas, we haven't even reached Thanksgiving yet.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving and all things fall, we decided to spend some time exploring this city of ours in all its fall glory.

Our first stop was Rockcliffe Park - neither one of us has ever been. What a perfect day for our first visit. The weather was PERFECT and there was even a wedding at the Pavillion.

These are a few of my favourite shots.

Is he a hottie or what? I got so many amazing shots of him today! YUM YUM YUM.

WOW WOW WOW!
What a weekend it has been. I can't believe Sunday night is here already.
There are no pictures from Friday night because that was the yucky cleaning night!!!
Saturday was busy busy busy with Denis working on the office and me running errands. We managed to get the house decorated in just under an hour before Mom (Turpin) arrived for her birthday dinner.

We met Tanya and Keith at our local Works and had a wonderful birthday dinner of burgers.

Yum. Can't go wrong with the works. We were SO STUFFED by the end of it though!!!

Here are some pics!

Could this be an ad for the Works or what?

WARNING: some material may be offensive to Bad Girls.

Ok. If you are a "Bad Girl" please grab a paper bag and take a seat. If you are feeling weak in any way, please do not proceed. This post may include images that are shocking to you and could potentially cause a violent physical reaction.

Don't say I didn't warn you...

I have been a busy bee tonight when I finally got down to work. I had a CRAZY day at work and it took me a while to get into my groove after super. On a Home Depot run Denis managed to find my mojo in the form of a Starbucks Spiced Pumpkin Latte. YUM! I probably won't sleep tonight but it just doesn't matter. That was some pumpkin goodness...

I spoke to my mom briefly for an update. Dad is in quite a bit of pain today but he had a few visitors to keep his spirits up. Mom said one of his roomies left today. A 21 year old guy who completely shattered his ankle "parasailing" in a field being pulled by a truck. Boy...Manitoba kids apparently have too much time on their hands. That's messed up.

I finally sat my arse down and starting watching the video for my first class. It was on balance - in pages, not in life. There is no way you could do a tutorial about life balance in less than an hour!

I really like Cathy's style. It's relaxed and not at all intimidating.

I should probably start with my "pre-class" homework.

We started with two 6 x 6 pages and we had to write our intentions for the class on them.

*photo disclaimer* - I'm a lazy, tired arse right now so I snapped pics very quickly - the lighting is off and I didn't feel like dragging out the light box because D is busy right now working on his office...

Our first 12 x 12 assignment was to create a page with all of these squares that represents ourselves and what we hope to get out of the class...

I found this sweet camera in one of my Amy Butler packs - loves it!

Pic of me - happy, relaxed and with a camera around my neck...

Diva square - I hope to stay on top of blogging while taking this class and everyone needs a little bling...

Another Amy Butler treat I found and wanted to add...
Cre8 - I want to create and be creative

How could I NOT put Denis on this? I LOVE this picture of him - his dimples...YUM. They were the very first thing that caught my eye about him...and I believe in love.

I plan to ENJOY this class and not stress myself out about getting things done. This is for me. For fun. For creativity.

Just a simple square. I played around with many different things in this square and in the end I felt that less was more.

Get used to this picture - you may see a lot of it. I can't get enough. I've used it on so many layouts lately I just love it. It makes me smile with my entire body and soul to remember the day, the weekend, the weeks and moments that are in this picture.

And a few more shots of the entire page. LOVE working with Kraft cardstock. LOVE IT!

This is where Bad Girls need to take a deep breath. You may have convulsions with the lack of "stuff" on this next layout. Assignment number 1. It is SO SIMPLE. SO CLEAN and SO ME.

There are no flowers or buttons or even any ink. GASP.

Does the picture look familiar???

I had the hardest time finding those three pictures at the bottom. It's HARD to make 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 pictures from a 4 x6. I think it turned out perfectly. Love the pictures of the three muskateers who took Granada by storm (some more than others)...hey Marina - did you find your sock yet?
I was terribly disappointed to have to cut Marina's "hairdo" with the chopsticks out of the picture. That "do" gave us hours and hours of entertainment (and laughs).
My journaling is the chorus to the theme song of the opening ceremonies of the Barcelona olympics. Perfect for this page.
I put a little circle of bling around the little feet on Io's shirt - sweet little Alba was hiding in there. I think she was afraid of Marina.

Well, I must get to bed. It's going to be a busy day at work and an even busier weekend. The good news is the next two weekends after that are long weekends for me...oh joy oh bliss.

Ooops - I nearly forgot...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM TURPIN!

We'll celebrate on Saturday!

I am not busy enough...

Hello October!

We sure got off to a rocky start this morning but now you seem to have redeemed yourself and I can enjoy your bright colours and sweet smells once again.

First things first...

Dad's surgery went really well. My mom said it was such a difference seeing him after surgery when he hadn't been put under - his head is definitely much clearer. Apparently he claimed he could hear them hammering and drilling (sounds more like a construction site than an operating room) but he was able to doze. My stomach did flip flops just hearing those words, I can't imagine actually being awake through it.

In true dad style he was already teasing the nurses by the time he got to his room pretending to "demand" his supper but only IV was allowed for today. They have him on one heck of a pain management regiment, basically he will be feeling no pain.

I picked up a few more little things for my class at The Scrapbox on my way home and saw miss Stephanie!!!

I spent some time working on my pre-class assignment tonight as well. I just have one more little square to print off and I'm done. I'll post pictures in the next day or two. I have to say it was a bit out of my comfort zone - particularly the colours...red, green and brown. Very earthy.

Class officially starts tomorrow - EEK. I'm both excited and nervous. The sheer number of assignments seems a bit daunting. I'm sure it'll be fine. I just wish that all of my supplies had arrived. Some were shipped today and hopefully the rest will arrive within the next week.

And then, miss Katie tipped me off on another class - because I don't have enough on my plate right now. But this class will be much shorter than Design Your Life and something completely different. It's a BLOG class! So stay tuned lovelies - you may be seeing some changes around here!

It's called Bling Out Your Blog with Kimberly Brimhall - how perfect is that? There is the word BLING in the title!!!

Here is her blog
So if I'm being *honest* here I'm REALLY tempted to go with Typepad. I've been tempted for a while. Then again I'd lose all my links and have to start from scratch and have to pay $$$. Maybe I'll stick with blogger.
Well, I should get some sleep. The next few days are going to be busy ones for us. Company's coming...
